Bezos Case Study:
Fulfilling and Delivering Black Friday eCommerce Orders 9x
Richard and Olly owned two direct-to-consumer brands: skincare brand plant DPT and beauty brand Drowsy Sleep Co, the latter being fulfilled by a traditional 3PL in the UK.
They decided to try out Bezos.ai with their Plant DPT brand to test the waters before moving both brands to a fulfilment company they could trust.
Drowsy Sleep Co. was set up due to the founders’ battles with insomnia, and ever since, have been the most talked about products by beauty editors from the likes of Vogue, GQ, and many more.
Drowsy is the luxury antidote to our stressful, modern lives, helping customers get the glorious sleep they deserve.
Getting closer to the holiday season, and after a successful trial with Plant DPT, Richard and Olly wanted to move Drowsy Sleep’s fulfilment operations to Bezos, as they couldn’t trust their current partner to provide an amazing customer experience with their fulfilment and delivery.
Late deliveries, mispicks and a lack of real-time visibility on Drowsy’s order performance meant that they were losing repeat customers, and their brand was being tarnished with poor reviews related to logistics. Drowsy’s customers relied on them for their sleep, so this was not acceptable!
Drowsy Sleep began fulfilling with Bezos in October 2021, just in time for their long planned Black Friday promotions, taking advantage of the 9pm cut-off to increase checkout conversion by 22%, and offer an Amazon Prime-style delivery experience.
Drowsy’s weekly volume during Black Friday was 9x their weekly average, and was 3X the forecast that they’d provided us in advance, but Bezos.ai’s technology and processes meant Drowsy Sleep’s orders were processed in full, even managing to book in extra stock during an inbound freeze.
Warehouse results: 9X weekly volumes, 100% pick accuracy, 0% out of stock, 99.94% despatch on time
Seller results: Increase in revenue by 400%, real-time visibility of orders and issues
“Bezos’ operational excellence, flexibility and close partnership during this period was crucial for improving our customer experience and increasing our sales”
